We are really please to see that the Starley name has been given pride of place in West Midlands Network rebranding. The newly rebranded Starley Network pulls together existing routes and towpaths, proposed new cycling infrastructure, and new pop-up lanes funded through the Emergency Active Travel Fund. Local authorities have worked closely with TfWM to link their local cycling plans into a region-wide network for the first time, showcasing the true scope of the future cycling network.
There is a long way to go before we have a network as good as Belgium or Holland but at least it’s a start. We would encourage all riders to challenge their local councils and make this a better place to cycle for generations to come.
The Starley Sportive has always been about raising the profile of the Starley family’s input to the world of cycling; hopefully the Starley Network is one more way to do this and will encourage more people to take to 2 wheels.
